Fun with Dots (1962)

Happy Holidays!
So this is my Christmas post for you all. An activity book for you to play with after the presents are all opened.  This is another bit of ephemera that I have "saved" from obscurity because of its space content.

Fun with Dots. Drawings by Hedwig Wylie. Racine, WI. Watkins-Strathmore Co. 27 cm. (96 p.) 1962.

Only the first few pages are space related but wonderful to see. At the end of this post is your special present!

OK, it is a turtle, I just liked it :)

I did not say it was much of a present but holidays and surprises go together.  Have a Happy New Year, see you in 2020.

Find the Constellations (1978)

Find the Constellation (1978) is a little late for my time period but I really like the cover.  This is a very simple book illustrating 12 constellations by showing the shape of the stars and then an imaginative picture opposite.

V. KASCHENKO. Find the Constellations. Moscow.  21 cm. (24 p.) 1978.

This is an example of the text page opposite the drawing (for Pegasus)

The drawings of the constellation are great, this dragon might be my favorite

Your Trip Into Space (1954)

I blogged about the American edition (1953) in 2010. so here is the British edition.
https://dreamsofspace.blogspot.com/2010/10/your-trip-into-space-1953.html

Poole, Lynn. Your Trip into Space.  Illustrated by Clifford Geary. London: Lutterworth Press. (192 pp.) 1954.

I appreciate the optimistic tone of this "blurb"

Again the tone that we are sure that it will be 50 years or less shows how unsure it would go from "idea" to reality.  15 years later people were on the Moon.

Note that launches were marked by a "signaling flare" in case you weren't paying attention :)

It ends with this phase: "Undoubtedly their dreams and yours will come true."
