Kolonel Keds and His Exciting Bell Rocket Belt (1965)

If we can put a man on the moon, then where is my flying belt? As a break from all the moon posts I decided to share a little rocket belt fun. This was given out at shoe stores that sold Keds tennis shoes. Besides the comic there was the Kolonel Keds Space Club with a space whistle and a secret decoder card (see the end of this post). Be sure to click on the pages so you can read the comic. "Perhaps someday you will be flying to college in your own rocketbelt. " Happy jetpacks to you!

  1. My brother-in-law remembers seeing Kolonel Keds at the Little League World Series in 1965 in Williamsport, PA. Unfortunately, no one that was with him remembers this. Did he dream this up or did Kolonel Keds' really fly around the base line in August of 1965 as he remembers?

  2. I can say, he did not dream it. I was there as well and he flew around the stadium. After he took off the deck they built so the rockets would not burn the grass upon take off or landing was blew up into the air by the force of the jetpack. Sonny Fox from Wonderama as also in attendance. Mark Harnish
