Rockets - The Magazine of Space Flight (Feb and Dec 1946)

The Rockets Journal was a post-war publication of the United States Rocket Society. There are several online issues here

Here is a biography of the controversial editor:

I wanted to share a few selections from my copies. These were not for children but still inspirational to me about the will some people had about going into space. They were convinced that it was time to "dream of space." These are from the February 1946 issue.

These below are from the December, 1946 issue

Article about how atomic power might lead to space flight. (USRS = United States Rocket Society)

Cosmonaut-2 (1964)

Cosmonaut-2 was a Russian pamphlet for older children about Gherman Titov. It has some lovely illustration about the 2nd manned Russian space launch. At age 25 Titov remains the youngest man to fly in Earth orbit. Vostok 2 was launched on August 6, 1961.

Mole Rocket (1965)

Mole Rocket is a Czechoslovakian children's book about a mole finding a rocket. It is a silly piece of fiction but since it does have adventuring in a rocket it seemed worth sharing.

Miler. Mole Rocket, 1965.

When the mole crash lands, the rocket breaks apart in pieces.

Some friendly sea creatures help him find the pieces so he can go home.
