Another illustration intensive book. This one is only 3" tall and 2 " wide so you might have missed it :) . It was a premium with Mickey Mouse Weekly magazine. Evidently the magazine came with some pages that you could fold up into a tiny book. The others I have found evidence of were YA Pocket Book of: The Air, The Land, The Sea, Animals, and Wonder Quiz Book. It has very colorful images and I am happy to share some with you from TYAPB of Space Travel.
The Young Adventurer’s Pocket Book of Space Travel (pamphlet accompanying Mickey Mouse Weekly). Illustrated by Lacey, Bill. London: Odhams Press (32 p.) 1954.
Thank you for posting this booklet. I'd never seen it before. Bill Lacey was a giant of British comic book art. He drew mostly action-adventure and s-f strips. His long career spanned the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Among his s-f work was the "Rick Random, Space Detective" series. Lacey was a perfect choice for this book.
ReplyDeleteI'll share the link with numerous sites and people. Fascinating!
