Topo Gigio Astronauta (1962)

Topo Gigio Astronauta is number 2 in a 5 part series about this fictional puppet mouse ("Collana Carosello"). I like the photographic illustrations very much and the detail that was put into setting up each scene.

Those of you who are not familiar with Topo Gigio can go here.

Collana Carosello. Topo Gigio Astronauta. Milano : Edizioni Acor. 16 p. 1962.

Mars, the Mysterious Planet : Astral adventures (1954)

Some Italian children's science fiction today.  I really like the illustrations in this book. They seem very much of the moment in the early 1950s when everything space-age was being made for children.

Chiarelli, Riccardo. Illustrated by Guido Lagna.   Marte Il Pianeta Misterioso : Avventure astrali (Mars the Mysterious Planet: Astral Adventures). Toroino : Societa Editrice Internazionale.  (231 p.) 22 cm. 1954.

Maybe my favorite illustration is "Cowboys and Flying saucers"

La Corsa Alla Luna (1963)

My first Italian Space book! I have been slowly (since my language skills are so poor)  trying to find children's books about space in other languages. This was one of the first I found that I know most of you have never seen.

Fontanella, C. La Corsa Alla Luna. Milano : Edikon. (31 p.) (1963).

It seems to be part of an encyclopedia for children about various topics including: water, air, mars, and whales.

The illustrations are pretty basic but nicely done.
